Comments

The Banque d'Emission du Rwanda et du Burundi was a transitional institution, created to manage the currency of two newly independent states that had not yet established separate central banks. It operated for only a few years before Rwanda and Burundi each launched their own national currencies — Rwanda in 1964, Burundi in 1965 — making the joint-issue series inherently short-lived and the notes from its final years particularly scarce in circulated grades.

Thomas De La Rue printed the series in London. The 1964 date places this note at the very end of the common monetary arrangement.
