Obverse description Brown intaglio print on cream paper with black serial numbers; a red letterpress overprint reading "DJIBOUTI, le 2 Janvier 1920" is applied beneath the bank name, replacing the original Papeete (Tahiti) date. The central vignette, engraved by Wullschleger after Bramtot and Duval, presents two reclining allegorical female figures flanking a lower tableau with an ox and a tiger, while tall decorative columns with elephant motifs anchor the left and right margins. Denomination and issuer inscriptions appear in French, Arabic, and Amharic, with "CENT FRANCS payables en monnaie locale au porteur" repeated in the upper field.
