This note predates the formal establishment of the Netherlands Antilles by well over a century — Curaçao in 1827 was administered under the broader Colonial Government of the Dutch West Indies, and paper currency issued there occupied an awkward position between colonial necessity and metropolitan distrust of local scrip. The gulden denomination tied it nominally to the Dutch monetary system, but actual convertibility was another matter entirely.
Plomp's cataloguing of this as PLNA1.7 places it among the earliest documented paper issues for the island. Survivors are extraordinarily rare; the tropical climate was unkind to paper, and colonial redemption drives eliminated much of what circulation didn't destroy.
