| Obverse description | Printed in black intaglio on white paper, the obverse carries a central vignette of Minerva at top center enclosed within an elaborate ornamented border, with the denomination numeral 100 repeated in each corner. The face bears the promise-to-pay inscription in Dutch, the issuing city Amsterdam, and a hand-filled date, reflecting the classical 19th-century banknote aesthetic characteristic of this long-running series issued between 1 June 1860 and 15 December 1921. The overall composition is symmetrical, with fine decorative scrollwork framing the text panel below the Minerva vignette. |
