Thomas De La Rue has handled Turkmenistan's banknote production since the manat's reintroduction in 2009, when the Central Bank replaced the first-generation manat at a rate of 5,000 to 1 — a redenomination that effectively erased the inflationary damage accumulated through the Niyazov years. The 2014 date places this note in the second year of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow's consolidated print run for the redesigned series.
Security is modest for a high denomination: watermark and thread only, with no optically variable ink or color-shifting elements. Unexceptional for the period from this printer, but worth noting on a 100-manat note.
