Obverse description Black letterpress print on buff paper. The title TREASURY NOTE appears at top centre, flanked left and right by rectangular value panels each bearing the numeral 100 within a dotted border. The large denomination text One Hundred Marks is set in bold serif type at centre, below which a handwritten promissory clause states payability in coin at the Treasury, Rabaul, with manuscript date and two handwritten signatures at lower left and right.
