The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has never controlled a functioning economy or mint — these pieces were produced for the international collector market, almost certainly struck by a European contract mint with no connection to the territory itself. The SADR, proclaimed by the Polisario Front in 1976 while Morocco occupied the Western Sahara, has issued "coinage" across dozens of themes with no plausible circulating purpose. The dinosaur series is among the more commercially transparent of these efforts.
