Colombia's Banco de la República contracted Thomas De La Rue throughout much of the mid-twentieth century, and this 100 Pesos Oro series is a product of that long relationship. The denomination was significant in daily commerce — 100 pesos in 1968 still held real purchasing weight before inflation began compressing the currency's practical value through the 1970s.
