The Manila Hotel commemorative issue marks the centenary of one of Southeast Asia's oldest operational luxury hotels, which opened in 1912 under American colonial administration and later served as General Douglas MacArthur's residence before the Japanese occupation in 1941. BSP's Security Plant Complex has produced the Philippine regular circulation series since the late 1970s, and commemorative polymer and paper issues of this period were typically printed in limited runs with collector packaging — though this example uses conventional paper stock rather than the polymer substrate adopted for some later BSP commemoratives.
Pick 213 sits outside the standard circulation series; face value is nominal.
