Pick 67 was issued under Bank Melli Iran during the years immediately following the 1953 coup that removed Prime Minister Mosaddegh and restored full authority to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The political and economic stabilization that followed — including resumed oil revenues after the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company dispute was settled — gave the government room to consolidate the currency series in circulation at the time.
The watermark on this series is a lion-and-sun device, consistent with Bank Melli issues of the period. Foxing and edge toning are common on surviving examples due to the particular cotton stock used across Iranian notes of the early 1950s.
