Additional information

This series spans the difficult post-war decade following the Iran-Iraq conflict, during which Iran's economy labored under reconstruction costs, oil revenue volatility, and sustained U.S. sanctions. The rial had already lost catastrophic value through the 1980s, making a 100-rial coin of diminishing practical use as the series progressed into the late 1990s — by 2000, it bought almost nothing in daily commerce.

KM#1261 saw production across multiple Iranian mint years under the Solar Hijri calendar, accounting for the extended Gregorian date range.
