| Opmerkingen |
The Government of Ceylon — not the Ceylon Currency Board, not a colonial bank — issued directly under Crown authority, a relatively unusual arrangement that persisted through this period without the intermediary of a dedicated issuing institution. De La Rue printed the series in London, and the long date range reflects reissue from standing plates rather than successive redesigns; the same P#20 type ran across nearly two decades with only signature and date changes to distinguish individual printings.
At this denomination, notes almost certainly saw limited retail circulation. The 100 Rupee face value was substantial — well beyond daily commerce — so survivors tend to show either heavy official handling or surprisingly little wear at all.
