Vorderseitenbeschreibung A central vignette of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant Project occupies the middle of the note, with the Laxapana waterfall and its hydroelectric transmission cables rendered above. At right, a vignette of the Sri Lankan Orange Billed Babbler (Turdoides rufescens) is set against the decorative underprint, while at left the Autumn Leaf butterfly (Doleschallia bisaltidae) appears within the guilloche patterning. Inscriptions in Sinhala, Tamil, and English identify the issuing authority and denomination.

Rückseitenbeschreibung The reverse, intended to be read in vertical orientation, presents a seated Mridangam drummer at centre engaged in performance, with a Bharatanatyam dancer positioned to his right. A Naga guard-stone with seven cobra heads appears at the upper right, and the traditional double floral motif known as the Dvithva Liya Vela forms a recurring decorative border element throughout the composition.

Anmerkungen

Thomas De La Rue has held the Sri Lanka printing contract through multiple governments and constitutional changes — this note belongs to a run that spans over a decade with only minor design revisions, which is why examples from 2010 and 2022 are catalogued under the same Pick number despite reflecting two very different political administrations.

The security thread specification for this series was upgraded at some point within the issue window, meaning early and late printings are not identical in that feature — worth noting when cross-referencing against forgery alerts circulated by the CBSL during the mid-2010s.
