Bradbury Wilkinson printed this series from their New Malden facility through a period of considerable political turbulence in Kenya — the 1982 coup attempt against Moi's government briefly froze normal banking operations, and notes of this denomination were reportedly withheld from branch distribution in Nairobi for several days following the August uprising. The six signature combinations across the series reflect genuine institutional turnover: Duncan Ndegwa had served as Central Bank governor since 1967, Philip Ndegwa followed from 1982, and Eric Kotut's arrival marked a third distinct administration within the single print run.

Bradbury Wilkinson closed in 1990, making this one of the final Kenyan series they produced before De La Rue absorbed the operation.
