100 Slovenských Korún

P#44 is the final issue of the 100 Korún denomination before Slovakia locked its exchange rate to the euro in preparation for eurozone accession — the koruna itself was abolished in January 2009. Österreichische Staatsdruckerei in Vienna had printed Slovak banknotes throughout the koruna period, an arrangement that reflected both capacity and political pragmatism rather than any symbolic concern about printing currency abroad.

The optically variable element on this date of issue marks an upgrade from earlier runs in the series, introduced as counterfeiting pressure on central European currencies intensified during the early 2000s.
