| 背面描述 | Central design features a detailed frontal view of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan, depicting the structure's distinctive large dome, ornate portal iwan, and decorative tilework facade in finely engraved relief. The name 'ТҮРКІСТАН' arcs prominently along the upper left in large Cyrillic letters, while the inscription 'ҚОЖА АХМЕТ ЯСАУИ КЕСЕНЕСІ' curves across the upper right field identifying the monument. Decorative arabesque and traditional geometric ornamental motifs frame the composition on either side. The commemorative inscription '1500 ЖЫЛ' at the bottom of the field marks the 1,500th anniversary associated with the city of Turkestan. |

Issued to commemorate the 1,500th anniversary of the city of Turkestan, one of Central Asia's oldest urban centers and the site of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi — a structure begun under Timur in the 1390s that was never fully completed and remains unfinished to this day. Kazakhstan invested heavily in Turkestan's symbolic status after independence, and this coin belongs to a broader early commemorative program through which the National Bank was actively constructing a numismatic national identity from scratch. The series launched in the mid-1990s drew heavily on pre-Soviet Kazakh and Silk Road heritage.
