| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central motif depicting a standing rhinoceros facing left, rendered in relief within the inner bimetallic disc. The circular legend reads 'REPUBLIQUE CENTRAFRICAINE' along the upper arc and '60 ANS DE L'INDEPENDENCE' along the lower arc, the latter containing a deliberate spelling error ('INDEPENDENCE' in place of the correct French 'INDÉPENDANCE'). The design is framed by the outer gold-coloured bimetallic ring. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Bank of Central African States issues coinage on behalf of six member nations — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — all sharing the CFA franc under a monetary union whose peg to the euro traces back to the original franc zone agreements with France. The 1000-franc denomination in bimetallic format is a relatively recent addition to everyday circulation in the region, where high-denomination coins have historically struggled against public preference for banknotes.
Equatorial Guinea joined BEAC only in 1985, making it the sole member whose colonial currency was not the French franc.
