Obverse description The national coat of arms of Cameroon occupies the central field, depicting a shield bearing scales of justice surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two crossed fasces adorned with ribbons inscribed with the national motto in both French and English: PAIX / PEACE, TRAVAIL / WORK, and PATRIE / FATHERLAND. A scroll beneath the shield bears the bilingual inscriptions REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON and REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper border, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is prominently rendered in large relief along the lower border. The entire design is executed in antique finish.
