| 正面描述 | The central field features the coat of arms of Zambia, depicting a shield with wavy vertical bands flanked by two human supporters — a man to the left and a woman to the right — standing on a grassy mound. An African fish eagle with outstretched wings surmounts the shield, and a ribbon with the national motto appears at the base. The denomination legend '1000 KWACHA' is inscribed in two lines across the upper field, while the issuer legend 'BANK OF ZAMBIA' curves along the left and right periphery respectively. |

| 背面描述 | The central field presents a detailed naturalistic depiction of a rat (associated with the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Rat) seated on a branch, facing right, with a flowering spray extending to the right and two round fruits with foliage in the lower field. The denomination legend '1000 KWACHA' curves along the upper periphery within a raised border, and the date '2000' is inscribed in the lower field. The design is executed in high relief with fine engraved detailing throughout. |

Zambia's wildlife coin program of the late 1990s and early 2000s produced a peculiar run of high-denomination pieces nominally valued at 1000 Kwacha — a figure rendered almost meaningless by the kwacha's sustained collapse through the 1990s, during which inflation repeatedly eroded purchasing power to the point where the currency required repeated redenomination. These were not coins made for tills.
Struck for the collector market, not circulation. The rat series in particular drew little secondary enthusiasm, leaving many examples in unbroken mint packaging from their original distribution channels.
