Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Bai Bureh (1840–1908), the Temne warrior chief and resistance leader, at right, rendered against a multicoloured guilloche underprint with geometric diamond motifs in red and teal at the borders. The national Coat of Arms of Sierra Leone is centred in the upper portion, flanked by large denomination numerals '1000' in black at left and right. Two manuscript signatures appear below centre, captioned 'GOVERNOR' and 'DEPUTY GOVERNOR', with the date '27th APRIL 2010' printed beneath; the denomination 'ONE THOUSAND LEONES' runs along the lower margin in bold red lettering.

Reverse description Central vignette of a large parabolic satellite earth station dish, rendered in fine intaglio line work, set against a landscape with trees and a low building at right; a spherical radome structure appears at left. The design is overlaid on a light blue guilloche field with a hexagonal geometric motif in yellow and orange at centre-right, and a floral guilloche border pattern frames all four edges. The bank name and denomination are printed in dark blue at top and bottom respectively, with the printer's imprint 'DE LA RUE' at lower left.
