Obverse description The upper centre bears the Italian Kingdom coat of arms supported by two lions, flanked by encircled denomination numerals "1000" at upper left and right, all united by intricate floral and foliate guilloche work. The central text cartouche, framed between two reclining putti — one holding wheat, the other a vine branch — carries the legal tender inscription, itself flanked by two allegorical female vignettes: Geometry at left, with compass and a seated putto accompanied by anchor, barrel, and bale alluding to Commerce, and Geography at right, holding a globe beside a child with artistic instruments alluding to the Visual Arts, with a boat and train rendered in the lower background. The intaglio composition is executed in dark green, with "1000" as a central azure underprint, and a left-border matrix panel inscribed "Regno d'Italia".
