正面描述 Left-facing truncated bust of Sun Yat-sen occupying the upper two-thirds of the field, rendered in high relief with considerable sculptural detail. Three lines of Chinese characters appear in the lower field below the portrait: the first line reading the commemorative legend for the centenary of Sun Yat-sen's birth, the second giving the Republic of China date (54th year), and the third line indicating the day and month of issue (November 12).

附加信息

This issue marks the first gold coinage produced by the Republic of China government after its retreat to Taiwan in 1949. The sixteen-year gap between that retreat and this 1965 strike reflects both the economic instability of the early Taiwan period and the government's long-standing priority of military preparedness over commemorative minting. The denomination — 1000 New Dollars — was essentially notional; no ordinary transaction would have involved it.

Struck to commemorate the 80th birthday of Chiang Kai-shek, the issue had a very limited mintage and was never intended for circulation.
