A central vignette presents a female bust in an elaborate headdress and collar of pre-Columbian or Egyptianate style, set within a radiate guilloche medallion at centre. The denomination "UN MIL PESOS" flanks the central vignette, with large ornate numeral "1000" panels at lower left and lower right; symmetrical decorative corner pieces incorporate scrollwork, floral rosettes, and crossed torch motifs.
