背面描述 The reverse is engraved in dark green on a light guilloche ground. A central oval vignette carries an allegorical seated female figure in classical robes, resting her arm upon a model sailing ship, symbolising maritime commerce; the oval is surrounded by the bank title in curved lettering. Ornate cornerpieces with geometric rosette patterns occupy all four corners, and the denomination "1000" appears in large numerals at both left and right margins.

备注

António Teixeira de Sousa, one of the two governors whose signature appears on this note, would become Prime Minister of Portugal just months after its issue — his tenure ending only with the republican revolution of October 1910. The Banco Nacional Ultramarino, though nominally a colonial bank, had held the note-issuing concession for metropolitan Portugal during earlier decades and still carried considerable political weight in Lisbon's financial circles.

Two signature combinations are recorded for P#33, suggesting a longer print run that bridged at least one change in senior management. Bradbury Wilkinson's involvement is the rule rather than the exception for Portuguese colonial issues of this period.
