Obverse description At left, a vignette of the Shaheed Minar (শহীদ মিনার) — the national monument in Dhaka commemorating those killed during the Bengali Language Movement of 1952 — is rendered against a multicolour guilloche underprint. Denomination numerals '১০০০' in Bengali script appear at upper left and upper right, flanking the central Bangladesh Bank inscription and the promise clause in Bengali. The Western-numeral denomination '1000' is positioned at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a vignette of Curzon Hall, the ornate Indo-Saracenic Revival building completed in 1904 and named after Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, now forming part of the University of Dhaka's Faculty of Sciences. The denomination appears in Bengali ('এক হাজার টাকা') and English ('ONE THOUSAND TAKA') alongside the Bangladesh Bank name, all set against a multicolour guilloche underprint. Western-numeral '1000' is repeated at the lower left and lower right corners.
