1000 Tögrög Long-eared Jerboa

The long-eared jerboa (Euchoreutes naso) was not formally documented on film in the wild until a 2007 Zoological Society of London expedition to the Gobi — just one year after this coin's issue. At the time of minting, the species was already listed as endangered, its range contracting under pressure from habitat degradation and feral cat predation across the Mongolia-China border region.
