Obverse description Phoenician war galley (trireme) sailing right across stylized waves rendered as a zigzag pattern in the lower field, the hull detailed with oar ports and a prominent ram at the prow. The superstructure is depicted with a curved stern post and central deck elements. Phoenician letters appear in the upper field above the vessel. The entire design is struck on a compact, irregularly shaped flan characteristic of small Sidonian silver fractions.
