| Obverse description | A hog passant to the left occupies the central field, enclosed within a plain inner circle. The denomination numeral XII appears above the animal within the circle. The surrounding legend SOMMER ISLANDS XII runs along the outer periphery, bordered by a beaded or toothed rim. The primitive, naively engraved style is characteristic of the earliest coinage struck for the Somers Isles (Bermuda), representing one of the first coins produced for an English colonial territory. |
