Attribution of electrum fractions to them remains contested among specialists, with some arguing the BMC classification reflects the geographic findspot rather than a confirmed issuing authority. The electrum itself almost certainly originates from the Pactolus River valley, the same natural alloy source feeding early Lydian and Ionian issues.
