The three characters are rendered in a native Celtic lapidary style, boldly incuse against a largely blank flan. The surrounding field is undecorated, consistent with the abbreviated inscriptional quarter-stater coinage of the late Iron Age Dobunni. The irregular, slightly chipped flan edge is characteristic of hammered Celtic coinage of this period. |

The horse's body is rendered with curvilinear limbs and a segmented torso, surrounded by a field filled with pellets, annulets, and concentric ring ornaments. Above the horse, a schematic human head or rider element is discernible, rendered in typical Dobunnic artistic convention.
