By 1809, the VOC had been legally dissolved for nearly a decade — the Batavian Republic nationalized it on 1 March 1800, absorbing its assets and debts. Any note circulating under the VOC name after that point was effectively a remnant instrument, issued by colonial administrators still working through the old company's paper stock and accounting infrastructure rather than anything the parent institution had sanctioned. The Amboina printing origin places this firmly in the eastern spice island administration, far from Batavia's central oversight.
The handstamp is the only security feature — a notable vulnerability given the note's face value at fifteen rijksdaalder.
