| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a forward-facing portrait bust of Léopold Sédar Senghor, first President of Senegal, depicted wearing spectacles and a bow tie in a formal suit, rendered in high relief with fine detail. The legend LEOPOLD SEDAR SENGHOR arcs along the upper periphery in large Latin capitals. The inscription 'EURAFRIQUE' appears to the right of the portrait in the field, flanked by apostrophes. The date 1975 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the bust, with the Pobjoy Mint privy mark visible at the base of the portrait. |

The Eurafrique program was a short-lived Franco-African development initiative promoted in the early 1970s as a framework for economic cooperation between France and its former African colonies. Senegal issued this piece as part of a broader series of commemorative strikes across several Francophone West African states, all sharing the same weight and module — a coordinated release almost certainly organized through Paris rather than Dakar.
At nearly 80 grams of .925 silver, these were never intended for circulation. Mintage figures across the Eurafrique series were modest, with individual country issues often running to only a few thousand pieces.
