| Additional information |
Cameroon has issued a steady stream of small-denomination gold "proof" pieces since the mid-2000s, nearly all produced by the European minting houses — principally Berna and B.H. Mayer's — that supply the broader African commemorative market. The issuing authority is the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale, though these pieces are designed entirely for collector sale and never approach circulation.
At 0.5 g of 14-karat gold, the actual precious metal content is negligible — roughly a third of a gram of fine gold.
