P#308M is one of several parallel issues circulating simultaneously across BEAC's six member states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — each with a country-specific letter code in the serial prefix but otherwise identical in design and security specification. The three signature combinations listed for 2002 alone reflect rapid turnover in the office of the local national director, a recurring feature of BEAC issues from this period rather than any single political event.
The "M" suffix in the Pick reference denotes the Cameroonian issue.
