Beschrijving voorzijde Central field depicts two submarines in three-quarter view positioned in the lower portion of the coin, identified by the legends U-S30 and U-977 beneath each respective vessel. Behind the submarines, a polar projection map of Antarctica fills the upper field, rendered with meridian and parallel grid lines and geographical detail. A beaded border frames the entire design. The curved legend 'German Antarctic Territories' arcs along the left rim in English, while 'Deutsche Antarktische Gebiete' arcs along the right rim and lower field in German script.

Aanvullende informatie

New Swabia — Neuschwabenland — was the name given by Nazi Germany to a claimed Antarctic territory following the 1938–39 expedition of the vessel MS Schwabenland, which conducted aerial surveys and dropped swastika-marked metal darts to assert sovereignty. No nation has ever recognized the claim. "New Swabia" as a coin-issuing authority does not exist under any treaty framework; Antarctica's governance falls under the 1959 Antarctic Treaty, to which territorial claims are frozen, not extinguished. This piece is a fantasy issue — a privately produced novelty with no issuing government, no monetary system, and no legal tender status anywhere on Earth.
