The surrounding legend reads PHILIPPUS · D · G, invoking the royal title of Philip V of Spain, and is bordered by a beaded inner circle. The entire design is executed in the milled style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Spanish colonial coinage. |

The surrounding circular legend reads REX · HISPANIARUM, declaring the monarch as King of the Spains, enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer edge. The entire composition is struck in the characteristic style of the Seville mint under Philip V. No Barbados countermark is visible on this face. |
