The Antarctica Overseas Exchange Office Ltd. is a private novelty issuer, not a governmental or central banking authority. These notes carry no legal tender status anywhere and were produced as commemorative souvenirs rather than circulating currency. The "Ross Dependency" designation refers to New Zealand's territorial claim over a slice of Antarctica — a claim that confers no monetary jurisdiction on private operators.
