Opmerkingen

The Central Monetary Authority was itself a transitional institution — established in 1973 after Fiji left the sterling area, it was eventually replaced by the Reserve Bank of Fiji in 1984. This 1980 issue falls squarely in that interregnum period, when Fiji was still building independent monetary infrastructure less than a decade after breaking from the old colonial currency arrangements.

Two signature combinations exist under Pick 77. The appearance of Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara as Chairman on the 77b signing is notable — he was simultaneously serving as Prime Minister, a concentration of economic and political authority that reflected how thinly staffed the CMA's leadership ranks were during its early years.
