Pitcairn has no mint of its own and no domestic economy to speak of — the island's population hovered around fifty people in 2011. These collector issues are authorized by the island's government but produced entirely for the numismatic export market, with the Pobjoy Mint in Surrey handling production. The fangtooth (Anoplogaster cornuta) inhabits deep Atlantic and Pacific waters and has no particular connection to Pitcairn's shallow coastal environment.
