| Obverse description | Central field bears the colonial coat of arms of Cape Verde, consisting of a Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the traditional Portuguese shield — quartered with castles and bezants — surmounted by a mural crown of five visible towers. Two small decorative rosette ornaments flank the lower field. The denomination 2$50 is inscribed prominently along the lower periphery, with the escudo sign rendered as the monetary separator. The colonial name CABO·VERDE curves along the upper legend in raised Latin lettering, separated by a central dot. |
