| Reverse description | The common reverse design of the euro cent series, featuring a relief map of Europe to the right with the large numeral 2 superimposed at lower right. To the left of the central dividing line, twelve five-pointed stars are arranged in a scattered field. The legend SPECIMEN curves along the upper portion of the field in raised Latin lettering, replacing the standard denomination inscription. |

| Additional information |
Malta adopted the euro on January 1, 2008, following a conversion rate of 0.4293 Maltese liri to one euro — a rate locked in 2007 after the European Central Bank confirmed Malta had met the Maastricht criteria. Specimen strikes were produced for collector sets, not circulation, and differ from business strikes in their polished dies and carefully prepared planchets.
