| Obverse description | The obverse features a centrally placed edelweiss flower, a national symbol of Austria representing environmental responsibility, rendered in fine detail within the coin's field. Heraldic hatchings in the surrounding area evoke the red-white-red of the Austrian national flag. The face value appears as a legend encircling the central motif, accompanied by the twelve stars of the European Union arranged along the outer ring. The date of issue is inscribed as part of the legend. The design was engraved by Josef Kaiser. |
