| Reverse description | The common reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, depicts a geographic map of Europe spanning both the inner disc and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The denomination '2 EURO' is superimposed over the map, with the large numeral '2' positioned in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Six raised vertical lines traverse the inner disc, visually linking the upper and lower segments of the outer ring, which bears six stars above and six stars below the map, comprising the full complement of twelve European Union stars. The designer's initials 'LL' appear in the lower right field of the inner disc. |
