Aanvullende informatie

French Equatorial Africa never received circulating 2-franc coins after the war — this 1948 essai was a pattern submission produced at the Paris Mint as part of the broader postwar currency reorganization for French overseas territories, most of which resulted in adopted designs that were then struck in quantity by the Institut d'Émission des Territoires d'Outre-Mer. The essai designation here means it was minted in very small numbers, typically a few hundred pieces, purely for official evaluation.

The federation itself — comprising Chad, Gabon, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo — was dissolved in 1958, leaving this issue without a successor circulation series.
