| Obverse description | The Central Bank of Malta emblem is positioned at upper left, with an allegorical standing figure of Malta at centre holding a rudder, symbolising sovereign self-determination; two doves flank the central vignette. Decorative underprint motifs in the lower portion are drawn from Roman-period mosaic designs found in Malta. The denomination and issuing authority inscriptions appear in Maltese across the upper and lower registers, rendered in letterpress. |

| Reverse description | Two architectural vignettes occupy the reverse: at left, the Banka Ġuratali ta' Għawdex (Gozo) with its characteristic baroque stonework, and at centre-right, the Banka Ġuratali ta' l-Imdina (Mdina), both executed in fine intaglio line engraving. Three doves in flight appear to the right, while a commemorative inscription in Maltese in the central field records the Diploma of Freedom granted by King Alfonso V of Aragon on 20 June 1428. The denomination numeral "2" within a heraldic cartouche is at lower right, with the printer's imprint along the lower margin. |
