背面描述 The brass centre displays the crowned coat of arms of the Principality of Seborga, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown, with a ribbon scroll below the escutcheon bearing the motto of the principality. The denomination '2 L' in stylised script appears to the right of the shield within the centre. The copper-nickel ring carries the legend 'PROCLAMAZIONE D'INDIPENDENZA' around the upper field, with the date '* 20 AGOSTO 1996 *' flanked by asterisks along the lower portion, commemorating the declaration of independence.

附加信息

Seborga's claim to independence rests on a disputed medieval charter and the 1963 self-proclamation of Giorgio Carbone as "His Tremendousness Prince Giorgio I." The principality — a small hilltop village in Liguria — was never formally ceded to the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1729, or so its residents argued. Coins like this one were struck more as political theater than circulating currency, sold primarily to tourists and collectors as funding mechanisms for the ongoing sovereignty campaign.

Carbone died in 2009. The Italian government has never acknowledged any of Seborga's claims.
