Christian III struck this issue during the Count's War — the civil conflict that brought him to the throne after defeating the Catholic-backed pretenders supporting Christian II. The 1535 date places it in the final year of that war, when Christian III was simultaneously funding military operations and dismantling the Catholic Church in Denmark, confiscating episcopal wealth to do both. The billon composition reflects real fiscal pressure, not a casual monetary adjustment.
