| Reverse description | The reverse of this klippe pattern features a central circular field enclosed by a finely detailed wreath of oak leaves and acorns, itself bordered by a beaded inner ring. The central field is entirely blank and deeply recessed, apparently intended to bear a portrait or inscription that was never applied to this trial striking. The oak wreath, a quintessential symbol of German imperial heraldry, is rendered with precise engraving, its leaves symmetrically arranged around the circumference. The surrounding klippe planchet extends in four diagonal corners beyond the circular motif, left plain and unburnished, consistent with the character of a provisional die trial or essai. |
