Pick 41 belongs to the South Vietnamese series issued under the National Bank of Vietnam during a period when the piaster was officially redenominated to the đồng at par — a largely cosmetic reform that did little to slow the inflation being driven by wartime spending and US dollar inflows. The low face value made this note a workhorse of everyday transactions at a moment when the currency's purchasing power was deteriorating faster than the printing presses could keep pace.
The series was printed by the American Banknote Company. Circulated examples are common; genuinely uncirculated survivors less so, largely because notes of this denomination passed through many hands before redemption.
