| Anmerkungen |
The Homer Lee Bank Note Company was a second-tier American security printer operating out of New York in the latter half of the nineteenth century — never as prominent as the American Bank Note Company, but used regularly by Latin American banks seeking competitive pricing on smaller print runs. Banco de la República de Colombia was a short-lived private institution, not to be confused with the modern central bank of the same name founded in 1923.
The dual peso/dollar denomination reflects Colombia's commercial ties with foreign trading partners during the period, particularly for port and export transactions where dollar equivalency carried practical weight. The incomplete date suggests blanks were issued to the bank for manual completion at time of disbursement — a common arrangement with provincial or semi-private issuers working on limited authorization windows.
